Homemade Beef Burgers

While I often make Turkey Burgers there is no doubt that the classic beef or lamb burgers can not be replaced.

The most important thing about making burgers is the meat. If you have a good quality minced beef you probably need only some salt, pepper and lemon juice for good taste. The rest is all optional. I personally like a lot of flavor and so make this recipes below.
Some like to add breadcrumbs and egg to their burger but I personally don't think it's necessary.

For those of  you that cannot eat Beef.. I have already shared with you my recipe for Homemade Turkey Burgers here..

Serves 4

Here's what you will need:

500 grams mince Beef
1/2 medium onion chopped fine (or 1 tbsp onion powder)
1 large garlic minced (or 1/2 tsp garlic powder)
1/4 tsp ginger mined or (juice squeezed)
2 tsp chopped Parsley
1 tsp mustard (Dijob)
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1/4 to 1/2 tsp Tabasco Sauce
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 tbsp grated Parmesan (optional)
1 tbsp grated Cheddar (optional)
Salt and Pepper to taste

Method:
Once you have your ingredients the rest is easy.
Just place all the ingredients in the bowl with the mince meat.
Mix to combine. Do not over mix - just enough to combine the ingredients.
Over mixing the ingredients can cause tough burgers.
Divide your mixture into four and form burgers.
Just press lightly into a ball then flatten with the fingers.
Hands dipped in water make it easier to work with mince meat.
You can keep these wrapped with Cling wrap in the fridge until you are ready to make them.
The best way to cook the burgers is of course an outside grill which I do in summer. On a regular day I do not stop myself from making burgers but I do cook them indoors on a heavy bottom skillet.
Place them on the skillet - resist the temptation to keep flipping them over.
Let cook for a couple of minutes - you will see the sides changing color from the bottom up.
For medium well cook about 4 minutes on each side
Medium about 3 minutes
Medium rare about 2 1/2 to 3 minutes.
Rare - about 2 minutes should do..
I  like mine medium so these are 3 minutes on each side.
I also like to grill some onion and tomato slices with my burgers.
Here is everything ready.
