Oven Baked Carrot Sticks

While carrots on their own are quite sweet, baking makes them more sweeter and more kid friendly.

I make these almost once a week since my three year old loves them.

Of course they are super simple to make too.

Here's how to make these.

Wash and peel as many carrots as you want.
I would say two medium per person is a good side dish.

Preheat the oven to 210C / 420 F.
Cut them in half first, then each half into sticks approximate the same size.

Sprinkle about a tablespoon of olive oil, salt, peppers, any other seasoning you want such as paprika, garlic salt, rosemary or thyme.

Note:You can also sprinkle a tsp of sugar too. Sugar adds to the caramelizing giving them a more darker Finish.
I do like the dark look but my kids don't so......

Spread the stick on a parchment paper.
I prefer parchment paper over foil as the sticks tend to stick to the foil, plus I don't have to grease parchment paper, but you are free to use a greased foil too.

Bake for about 20 to 25 minutes.

The trick with these is to bake them in a hot oven so that as soon as the carrots releases their juices they are instantly caramelized making them crisp instead of soggy.
You see those brown marks on the baking paper? These are form the juices caramelizing.
Isn't this easy?
Remove from oven and Enjoy!
I do hope you try these.

Thanks for stopping by.
