Ask my kids what they want for their meals and all you can hear is Burgers, Pasta, Schnitzel, fries....
I do not like to deprive kids of food they like but I also want them to eat more healthy. Here's a delicious and yet healthy Turkey Burger my family loves. I hope you like it too.
Here's what you'll need
400 grams ground turkey
1 medium onion chopped fine
1 tsp garlic minced to a paste
1 tsp ginger minced to a paste
1 tsp Soya sauce
2 drops Tabasco sauce
2 tbsp fresh chopped herbs - Cilantro or Parsley
2 tbsp fresh chopped mint
Salt and Pepper to taste
1 tbsp Lemon Juice.
1 to 2 tbsp canola oil
Method:
Heat 1/2 tbsp oil in a pan.
add the onions.
saute nicely until lightly golden on low heat.
Place your ground Turkey in a bowl.
Add Salt, pepper, ginger garlic, soya sauce and Tabasco sauce.
Add the browned Onions, mixed fresh herbs, lemon juice.
Mix lightly to combine - do not over mix, or the burgers will be tough.
Form patties. Mine are different sizes.
Small for my little girl, medium for my son and two large for dada and mama..
We usually make them like that for fun but they work best in terms of wastage.
You can cook them on a hot grill but on a regular day - I don't bother to light up the grill.
I place a flat pan on the hop. Once the pan is very hot. I place the burgers on; without any oil.
Do not move them or touch with a spatula
Cook them on high for about 3 to 4 minutes - you will see the sides cooking.
Usually if your burgers have any fat in them they will release some oil at this point - if they are as lean as these here - add a tbsp of oil
Flip them over with a spatula but do not press on the burgers - this will release the juice and you will have a very dry interior. You want the burgers to hold on to the juices.
Cook for another 3 to 4 minutes. Turkey doesn't usually take long .
Once cooked remove from the pan and serve as desired.
My kids love them with some baked potato wedges.. and ketchup.
Don't those baked potato wedges look delicious? Yes, they are baked. I shall post the recipe soon, I promise.
Enjoy!
Thanks for stopping by.
