Oven Fired Onion Rings

I love onion rings..especially the ones dipped in bear batter....! but don't want to eat the deep fried ones.  So I bake them in the oven and make oven fried onion rings.

Now I wont' lie to you they are not the same as the deep fried variety but they are better than not having any at all.

So if you are open to trying some healthier onion rings here's how I make mine.

Ingredients
Two large Onions - sliced and rings separated
1 eggs
2 tbsp milk
1/4 tsp paprika
1/2 cup bread crumbs
1/2 cup all purpose flour
Salt and pepper to taste.

Method:
Pre heat the oven to 200C/400 F
Cut the onion rings quite thick and seperate the rings in pairs to create individual circles.
Sprinkle Salt and pepper over the onion rings to help them release some of their juices.
Bowl 1 - To the beaten egg add the milk, salt, pepper and paprika. Stir to combine
Bowl 2  - To the bred crumbs - add salt and pepper.
Bowl 3 - Flour - To the flour add salt and pepper.
Use paper towel to wipe off the excess moisture from the onion rings.
Dip the rings in flour, then egg wash and lastly into the bread crumbs. Make sure you coat them well in each bowl. For example if you do not coat the rings with the egg mixture then the bread crumbs won't stick.
Place them on a parchment lined baking tray and bake until crisp and golden.
Like so..
and that's how I make my onion rings.
I do hope you try these - they are really delicious.

Thank you for stopping by, Have a great day...
